Highlights
RouteFinder™ Applications. The RouteFinder™ security appliance combines
firewall, e-mail anti-virus protection (option), content filtering, spam
filtering and Virtual Private Networking (VPN) in one box. It is a
cost-effective, easy to manage solution that is ideal for small to medium-sized
businesses looking to add one or all of the following applications to their
network:
Firewall Security. As businesses move toward always-on broadband Internet
connections, the corporate network becomes more vulnerable to Internet hackers.
The RouteFinder™ security appliance provides a full-featured, ICSA-certified
Stateful Packet Inspection firewall to provide security from intruders
attempting to access the office LAN.
E-mail Anti-Virus Protection. An optional e-mail virus protection subscription
ensures the network is protected against the latest virus outbreaks.
Content Filtering. A free, one-year URL content filtering subscription allows
you to automatically manage what Web content is available.
Spam Filtering. A free spam filtering feature protects your network from
unsolicited bulk e-mail utilizing real-time as well as user-definable white and
black lists.
Remote User VPN. The RouteFinder™ security appliance replaces traditional
dial-in remote access by allowing a remote user to connect to the corporate LAN
through a secure tunnel over the Internet. The advantage is that a remote user
can make a local call to an Internet Service Provider, without sacrificing the
company's security, as opposed to a long distance call to the corporate remote
access server.
Branch Office VPN. The RouteFinder™ security appliance sends network traffic
over the branch office Internet connection instead of relying on dedicated
leased line connections. This can save thousands of dollars in line costs and
reduce overall hardware and management expenses.
Plug-and-Play Security Appliance. The RouteFinder™ security appliance plugs in
at the Internet connection of each office. It provides three independent network
interfaces (LAN, WAN and DMZ) that separate the protected office network from
the Internet while offering an optional public network for hosting Web, e-mail
or ftp servers. Each network interface is independently monitored and visually
displayed on the front of the appliance.
State-of-the-Art Firewall Security. The RouteFinder™ security appliance is
ICSA-certified to provide network layer security utilizing Stateful Packet
Inspection, the sophisticated firewall technology found in large enterprise
firewalls, to protect the network against intruders and Denial of Service (DoS)
attacks. It also uses Network Address Translation (NAT) to hide internal,
non-routable IP addresses and allows internal hosts with unregistered IP
addresses to function as Internet-reachable servers. In addition to network
layer security, the RouteFinder™ security appliance provides application level
security using SMTP, HTTP, DNS and SOCKS proxies. It also utilizes filters to
block specific Internet content to protect against viruses, dangerous ActiveX
controls, Java, Javascript and Cookies. An automatic update feature provides the
highest level of security by automatically downloading and installing the latest
system software and security patches protecting against any newly discovered
hacker attacks with a single click.
E-mail Anti-Virus Protection. Computer viruses are one of the leading security
threats to Internet-connected networks. Users can unknowingly download and
launch dangerous viruses that can damage data or cause computer crashes. An
optional e-mail virus protection subscription utilizes Kaspersky®'s
high-performance, ICSA-tested, antivirus engine which checks both incoming and
outgoing e-mail for viruses in real-time. Automatic anti-virus updates are
downloaded at user-defined intervals to ensure protection is current. The e-mail
anti-virus protection can be easily renewed on an annual basis. Ask about our
free 30-day evaluation.
Content Filtering. The RouteFinder™ security appliance includes a one-year URL
content filtering subscription. It utilizes SurfControl®'s content
categorization list, the world's largest database of Internet content, which
includes 5 million Web sites covering over 900 million Web pages. Daily updates
of categorized sites are available for download. In addition, it includes URL
access and deny reporting. The subscription can easily be renewed on an annual
basis.
Spam Filtering. A free spam filtering feature protects your network from
unsolicited bulk e-mail utilizing real-time as well as user-definable white and
black lists. In addition, the spam filter checks for null sender and bad address
patterns in e-mail addresses. It also utilizes the reverse DNS test as well as
attachment and expression filters.
Secure VPN Connections. The RouteFinder™ security appliance uses IPSec and PPTP
industry standard protocols, data encryption, user authentication, and the
Internet to provide high-performance, secure VPN connections. For LAN-to-LAN
connectivity, the RouteFinder™ security appliance utilizes the IPSec protocol
with strong 3DES and AES encryption using IKE and PSK key management. In
addition, it provides very high performance with up to 70M bps of encryption
throughput. For client-to-LAN connectivity, Multi-Tech offers optional IPSec
client software. The RouteFinder™ security appliance also supports remote users
that want to use the PPTP VPN client built into the Windows operating system.
This provides 40-bit or 128-bit encryption, user name and password
authentication.
Reporting. The RouteFinder™ security appliance includes a suite of integrated
monitoring and reporting tools that help administrators troubleshoot the
Internet security system and report to management the usage of the Internet.
This includes reporting on system uptime, hardware and network utilization. HTTP
and SMTP proxy reports provide information about any actions needed to handle
virusinfected e-mails. The RouteFinder™ security appliance also disables and
logs attempted port scans. In addition, it provides accounting reports and a
self-monitor that sends an e-mail notification of system-level issues.
Robust, Easy-to-Use Management. The RouteFinder™ security appliance includes
robust management support allowing a network administrator to securely manage
the devices either through a web browser or at the command line. The
browserbased option uses the HTTP or HTTPS protocol, also known as SSL (Secure
Sockets Layer) to provide 128-bit encryption to secure the management session.
The command line interface is accessible via SSH (Secure Shell) and supports SCP
(Secure Copy).
User Authentication. To increase the level of security, user identity can be
verified before access to Internet services is permitted. The RouteFinder™
security appliance supports authentication at a local user database as well as
at external user databases, like Windows 2000 or RADIUS server.
Automatic Dial Backup. The RouteFinder™ security appliance provides a serial
port that, when connected to a dial-up modem or ISDN terminal adaptor, can serve
as a backup resource for Internet access and VPN tunneling if your cable or DSL
service goes down. In addition to the serial port, it also includes a built-in
modem.
Web Caching Server. To enhance performance, the RouteFinder™ security appliance
provides web caching. By storing frequently visited web sites on a local drive,
web surfing performance can be improved by as much as 50%.
Optional VPN Client Software. Multi-Tech provides easy-touse IPSec VPN client
software that transparently secures Internet communications anytime, anywhere.
VPN client software is ideal for business users who travel frequently or work
from home providing secure remote access through the RouteFinder™ security
appliance for applications such as remote access, file transfer, email, Web
browsing, messaging or IP telephony. Encryption and authentication operations
are completely transparent to the end user. In general, IPSec provides stronger
encryption than PPTP resulting in better overall security.
RouteFinderSOHO™. The RouteFinderSOHO™ security appliance is ideal for the small
branch office or telecommuter who needs secure access to the corporate LAN. In
addition to providing a WAN Ethernet port for DSL or cable broadband Internet
access, it also offers both client-to-LAN and LAN-to-LAN VPN connectivity based
on the IPSec or PPTP protocols. It supports up to 10 IPSec tunnels and provides
3DES and AES encryption to ensure that your information remains private.

Tripp Lite
offers the most reliable, cost-efficient power protection, power supply and
connectivity solutions available. With over 1,000 products to choose from, Tripp
Lite has the ideal solution for every application.
Tripp Lite's innovative product line (including #1-rated Isobar® Premium Surge
Suppressors), unmatched customer support and 80-year service history have built
a trusted reputation for reliability worldwide.
In 1922, Graham Trippe, a Chicago-area inventor, obtained a patent for a new
precision-focused automobile headlight. This unique design won the gold medal at
both the 1928 and 1929 Paris Exposition of Innovation. The Trippe "Speed Light"
soon became a successful automotive accessory, improving visibility on
everything from fine touring cars to U.S. Army tanks during World War II.
As sealed-beam headlights became standard equipment on post-war vehicles, Trippe
Manufacturing Company expanded into the production of rotating warning lights.
These were sold to many different businesses as well as the police, fire and
ambulance markets. To this day, Tri-Lite, the sister company of Tripp Lite,
continues to manufacture industrial and specialty lighting products for shipment
around the world.
Addressing a newfound need for on-board AC power in ambulances and recreational
vehicles, Tripp Lite developed a line of DC-to-AC inverters in the early 1960s.
Over the next 20 years, Tripp Lite grew to become the best known manufacturer of
portable inverters in the world-providing portable power for everything from RVs
to alternative energy applications.
By 1980, the advent of the personal computer had created a need for battery
backup AC power to prevent data loss or hardware damage to computers and other
sensitive microprocessor-controlled devices. By integrating their proven
inverter technology with a battery charger and transfer switch, Tripp Lite
became the first company to manufacture a UPS system specifically designed for
desktop PCs. Coupled with the introduction of the Isobar® Premium Surge
Suppressor in 1982, Tripp Lite was uniquely positioned to supply the burgeoning
computer market with high quality power protection equipment.
As the personal computer became an increasingly important business tool, power
protection from Tripp Lite became recognized as an essential add-on to computer
installations. 14 million Isobars and more than 3½ million UPS systems later,
Tripp Lite remains the leading manufacturer of power protection supplies,
including UPS systems, AC and dataline surge suppressors, line conditioners,
cabling and connectivity products and network management accessories. In 1999,
Tripp Lite became the exclusive licensee for IBM-brand UPS systems. Tripp Lite
quality products provide increased reliability and protection to PC
workstations, network file servers, telephone systems, point-of-sale terminals,
audio/video systems and laboratory equipment. Tripp Lite recently received ISO
9001 certification for the highest standard of design, manufacturing,
distribution, marketing and service excellence. Eighty years after it began, the
Tripp Lite marketing effort now spans the globe with sales in excess of $175
million and shipment to more than 85 different countries worldwide.
Tripp Lite Introduces ˇ§Zero Downtimeˇ¨ Hot-Swappable Modular UPS
Systems
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chicago, IL (March 14, 2006)ˇXTripp Lite, a world-leading manufacturer of power
protection equipment, has introduced two new SmartOnline™ Hot-Swappable Modular
UPS Systems promising zero downtime for connected server, storage and networking
equipment. End users can perform all potential UPS maintenanceˇXfrom battery
replacement to complete power module exchangeˇXwithout powering down connected
equipment and paying high-priced service specialists. The systems also include
features such as scalable runtime via optional battery packs and the ability to
configure multiple systems to deliver N+1 availability, setting a new
best-in-class standard.
The foundation of the hot-swappable modular design is a unique power
distribution unit (PDU) that manages all input and output power connections and
incorporates a manual bypass switch. Combined with the dynamic internal bypass
feature that keeps power flowing to connected equipment in the event of a
component problem, the manual bypass feature of the PDU enables UPS system
maintenance and component replacement without power interruption and costly
maintenance-related downtime.
Available in capacities of 5000VA (Model: SU5000RT4U) and 6000VA (Model:
SU6000RT4U), SmartOnline Hot-Swappable Modular UPS Systems deliver high power
density in an all-in-one compact 4U form factor, maximizing productivity for
server networking racks and other applications where space is at a premium. The
addition of tower stands for vertical installation provides a compact, powerful
and flexible single-system solution for the diverse and evolving needs of
businesses today.
ˇ§With the award-winning technology of our SmartOnline series well established,
Tripp Lite is excited to introduce these practical innovations to our expanding
enterprise customer base,ˇ¨ says David Slotten, Tripp Liteˇ¦s Director of Product
Management. ˇ§The obvious utility of our hot-swappable modular architecture,
combined with runtime scalability, extensive manageability and N+1 options for
multiple power supplies represents a leap forward versus legacy systems costing
thousands more.ˇ¨
The zero downtime, high power density design adds to industry-leading features
customers expect from SmartOnline UPS Systems, such as true on-line operation
for complete isolation of sensitive equipment from power problems, output
flexibility (2 L6-30R, 2 L6-20R, 8 5-15/20R; 120/240V or 120/208V output;
optional hardwire capability), simultaneously addressable communication ports,
SNMP communications slot, EPO interface, free PowerAlert software for remote
IP-based enterprise-level system management and scalable runtime capability
(with optional battery packs).
Available in March, the SmartOnline Hot-Swappable Modular UPS Systems will ship
immediately from stock without the production and delivery delays associated
with most competing products.
